Tera Martin graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2009 with a Master of Science in Nurse-Midwifery. She has been with PCC since 2014 and mostly attends births at The Birth Center at PCC. When patients transfer out of the birth center during labor, she continues to manage their care with the other midwives in the hospital. Tera also provides prenatal, postpartum, gynecological, and family planning care at PCC South Family Health Center and early postpartum and newborn care during home visits.

“What I enjoy most about being a midwife is working in partnership with women and their families. It is so rewarding to be able to build a relationship of trust and respect with our clients during this very important time in their lives,” says Tera. “I really enjoy supporting women by providing access to evidence-based information, creating an environment where they feel trusted and heard, and respecting their role in their health care through shared decision-making and by supporting their autonomy.”

Before joining PCC, Tera spent five years working at Gentle Birth Care, Inc., a home birth practice where she attended home births across the greater Chicagoland area. When not busy catching babies, Tera enjoys cooking healthy meals and long walks with her two dogs.
