February 20, 2019—PCC Community Wellness Center will continue to operate its PCC Melrose Park Family Health Center, despite the recent announcement regarding Westlake Hospital’s proposed closure. The clinic, located within Westlake Hospital’s Professional Office Building, has proudly served the Melrose Park community since 2012. While PCC does not yet know whether they will be able to continue to lease space in their current location over the long-term, operations will continue as is through at least June 30, 2019. If Westlake Hospital closes, as proposed, PCC is committed to finding new space for the clinic in the Melrose Park community.

“We remain deeply committed to serving the residents of Melrose Park and surrounding communities and we want all of our patients to feel confident that PCC will continue to provide care for them and their families,” said Robert J. Urso, President and CEO of PCC Community Wellness Center. “We will keep the community updated as our future plans for this location are determined, but we look forward to our continued partnership with area residents.”

PCC Melrose Park Family Health Center offers family medicine, prenatal care, pediatrics, behavioral health services, substance use treatment, and referrals to dental and other specialty care, as needed. The clinic is one of twelve operated by PCC Community Wellness Center, all of which are concentrated in Chicago’s West side and near west suburbs.

PCC learned of Pipeline Health’s proposal to close Westlake Hospital on February 15, 2019. The proposal’s full impact on the community’s access to health care remains unknown.

“PCC has been providing high-quality, family-centered health care for more than 25 years,” said Dr. Carolyn Fitzpatrick, Chairperson of the Board of Directors for PCC Community Wellness Center. “While the health care industry has changed dramatically over the last two and a half decades, PCC has remained a strong and reliable presence in the area. We are an adaptable organization and always ready to meet the challenges ahead.”

PCC Community Wellness Center opens its newest health clinic—PCC Parkside Family Health Center—in Austin today.
