Chicago, IL – PCC Community Wellness Center (PCC) has received certification from the Illinois Department of Human Services' Division of Alcoholism & Substance Abuse (IDHS/DASA). IDHS/DASA administers a network of community based facilities that provide alcohol and other drug treatment programs.
“The acquisition of a DASA licensure within PCC’s integrated services supports PCC’s mission to provide the highest quality of care. Through the recognition of this DASA licensure, PCC continues to provide evidence based interventions for substance use disorders, while supporting the integration of treatment into primary care, leading to decreased stigma associated with seeking treatment,” said Amanda Brooks, PCC’s Chief Population Health Officer.
The following PCC health centers have received DASA certification to provide Level 1 Adult outpatient treatment services: PCC Lake Street Family Health Center, PCC South Family Health Center, Melrose Park Family Health Center, PCC Walk-In Wellness Center at West Suburban Medical Center, PCC Austin Family Health Center, PCC Salud Family Health Center, and PCC West Town Family Health Center.
The treatment of heroin, alcohol, and other substance use disorders is offered through PCC’s Chemical Dependency Program at the aforementioned health centers, and at PCC’s Chemical Dependency Clinic, located within the PCC Walk-In Wellness Center at West Suburban Medical Center at 3 Erie Court, Suite 1300, in Oak Park.
Through PCC’s Chemical Dependency program, patients receive counseling, medication-assisted treatment for opioid use with Suboxone, as well as Vivitrol for patients with alcohol dependence as part of a patient centered treatment team. Treatment for opioid use in pregnant women is also offered with the use of buprenorphine.
PCC’s goal is to meet patients where they are in their recovery and help them to set goals without judgment. “Substance use disorders impact individuals, families, and communities. The integration of substance abuse treatment services within our network of primary care facilities allows PCC to support both the individuals and the communities we serve through compassionate care that treats substance use disorders as one facet of whole person care,” said Brooks.
