Dr. Melissa Beally earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2013. She completed residency at Tulane University School of Medicine – Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

10/28/11 PCC is proud to be pink

Chicago, IL - National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is recognized annually throughout October, reminding PCC Community Wellness Center of their commitment to women’s health and the importance of the “pink” services they provide. Some of the services PCC provides to uninsured and underserved women in Westside Chicago and the near west suburbs are breast cancer education, instruction on self- breast exams, and routine clinical breast exams. PCC is a proud partner of the Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer Program (IBCCP).

10/03/11 An afternoon for breastfeeding

Chicago, IL - On Saturday, October 1, 2011, the Maternal Child Health Advocacy Council hosted the 2011 Charity Matinee to raise money for PCC Community Wellness Center’s breastfeeding support services. This event included an afternoon of food, drinks, and music with legendary Detroit rocker, Carolyn Striho. In celebration of the launch of Mary Sommers’ new book More Than a Midwife, Chicago actresses Isabel Liss, Maya Rose Dinerstein, and Chaon Cross performed various book readings. This was followed by remarks from special guest speaker, Illinois State Representative Robyn Gabel, 18th District, who hopes to promote policies that improve breastfeeding practices in hospitals. Dr. Bechara Choucair, Commissioner of the Chicago Department of Public Health, also made a guest appearance and spoke about his support for PCC. 

Berwyn, IL - On Tuesday, September 20, 2011 PCC Community Wellness Center celebrated the grand opening of the newly relocated and expanded PCC South Family Health Center, along with Berwyn civic officials, local business owners, community board members, as well as PCC staff, family and friends. PCC South Family Health Center represents a $4 million investment through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, Facility Investment Program. This facility was designed to meet the requirements for Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) silver certification, from the U.S. Green Buildings Council. Berwyn Mayor, Robert J. Lovero, was in attendance at the event, and addressed that healthcare is a growing business, but that we are short on community health facilities. He stated that PCC is “answering a need in the community” and personally thanked PCC, Pat Thompson architect for the architectural firm Manske Dieckmann Thompson, and Madison Construction Company Inc. for their vision, and “what they have done to make this beautiful creation”. PCC’s new South Family Health Center is located at 6201 W. Roosevelt Road, Berwyn, IL 60402.

Mary has supported mothers and their families since 1983. She received a masters degree in public service from DePaul University, contributing to her administrative skill set.

Amy Willen, CNM

Amy Willen received her Master of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University in 2004 and has since attended births as a nurse-midwife in several settings including both large and smaller hospitals, free standing birth centers, and homes in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. Amy believes childbirth is a normal process and loves being able to tailor her midwifery care to support women's choices no matter what setting they choose to give birth in. Amy enjoys traveling internationally and has worked as a midwife in Uganda and Tanzania. She loves learning new languages and is fluent in Spanish. Committed to providing care to underserved communities, Amy is a member of the National Health Service Corps.

Katherine Wehrmann, CNM

Katy Wehrmann is a certified-nurse midwife who joined PCC in 2013. After completing her Bachelor of Science in Biology at North Park University, she completed her Master of Science in Midwifery at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Nursing in 2013, graduating magna cum laude.

Ryan Tuscher, DDS

Dr. Ryan Tuscher, D.D.S. serves as PCC’s Dental Director. She joined PCC in 2011. As director, Dr. Tuscher provides clinical leadership to ensure quality patient care, develops dental goals, and oversees the recruitment and retention of the staff. In 2009, Dr. Tuscher graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago – College of Dentistry, where she serves as an adjunct faculty member. She completed residency at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where she remains a member of the medical staff. She is highly experienced in performing preventative, restorative, and emergent dental care for adults and children. Her remarkable enthusiasm for her patients and the Dental Department contributes to the success of PCC’s Oral Health Program.
